Merida OOAK doll by lulemee Merida OOAK doll by lulemee
Finally done: OOAK Merida from Disney's Pixar-movie Brave.

Before she was the Disneystore classic Merida doll. She has a full facial repaint, her hair is boil permed and restyled. She is wearing her original outfit from the Disneystore.

I would say, the before doll is prettier.... but Merida isn't exactly about beeing pretty, right? I hope you like her :-)

This is perfect!! The expression, no make up, the hair! I love it! Didnt want to buy one of these because they re not in the spirit of Merida, but I might now, knowing that its possibble do make THIS!

I absolutely love it! She looks exactly like she does in the movie!
And Merida isn't about being pretty, so I think you did her perfectly.

I like how you have restored her to the way she is supposed to look. Never was keen on her redesign for the merchandise... Just wasnt her. The fact that you have made her look more like her shows that they could have still made her original style work without overly glamming her up :)

The before one is not bad, but now she looks much more like herself. And yes, Merida is not at all about beeing pretty :)

She looks exactly like from the movie! Amazing! I'd only suggest giving her a bit more streaks of hair near her forehead (the short ones) so that the part where the hair 'pops out' of her skull doesn't look odd (but it's probably just me) Also maybe make the curls kind of wavy, I think it would look even better. Just suggesting. Overall, the finished result looks stunning!

Thank you. Well...it is still a doll, so it is not possible to make the hair look exactly like the animation. But I tried....in my opinion Merida doesn't have waves, she has tiny curls, so the result is the best I was able to achieve and I don't want to change it. But thank you anyway for your suggestions!

Sure, no problem! It's just that I always imagine Merida's hair a bit 'straightened out' as if she was running just a second ago :D Still, your work deserves big thumbs up!

you're totally right, Merida was designed to be less than perfect. just so a lot of girls around the world can relate to her and be okay with what they look like and how they do things. =)

They're both lovely! Yours stays truer to the actual film, and the second looks like it could be played by Molly Quinn. :)

I agree. Your version looks much more like Merida, but there's also nothing wrong with the original. The original's just...a little too pretty to be Merida.

Exactly what I thought... the original doll is too pretty. She has long black eyelashes, which make her look very untrue to the character. But it's a pretty doll for sure!

a valid opinion. I just think compared to other generic dolls the original actually looks cute.

especially compared to these: bontoys.com/disney-princess/29… images6.fanpop.com/image/photo… myfrugaladventures.com/wp-cont…

The dolls in your Links are Mattel Disney dolls whereas the doll I used is the Disney Store doll. These are two different brands.

Oh, I was just trying to find creepy-looking disney princesses as a joke, implying that there are more lifeless-looking dolls out there. Never mind what brand it was.

But yeah, in my opinion, I do believe that Disney's products tend to be more accurate and higher quality than Mattel.

Beautiful!  I have  Merida in my collection as well, but what I have heard is that the newer runs of Merida do not come with her bow and arrow. That is a huge let down, as it is you rarely see Merida without it in the film.  Luckily I did manage to get one with the bow and arrow.   It is funny though that now I look at your doll in comparison.   The after definitely looks like Merida, but the before looks like Lindsay Lohan.
